ਇਤਿਹਾਸ: ਬੀਬੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ

੨੬ ਪੋਹ ੧੭੦੫ ਈ: ਦੀ ਹਨ੍ਹੇਰੀ ਰਾਤ ਸੀ। ਚਮਕੋਰ ਦੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਪਿੱਛੋ ਵੱਡੇ ਸ਼ਾਹਿਬਜਾਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦੀਆ ਲਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਚਮਕੋਰ ਦੇ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਈਆ ਸਨ, ਮੁਗਲ ਫੌਜ਼ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਤੰਬੂਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੜ ਗਈਆ ਸਨ। ਵਜ਼ੀਰਖਾਨ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਨਹੀ ਕਰੋਗਾ।

ਚਮਕੋਰ ਦੀ ਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਤੋ ੨ ਮੀਲ ਦੀ ਦੂਰੀ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਿੰਡ ਰਾਇਪੁਰ ਰਾਣੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੀਬੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਤੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਸ ਤਿੰਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ।ਬੀਬੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਪੀਤਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੀ ਚਮਕੋਰ ਦੀ ਜੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ(ਇਤਹਾਸ ਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ)।ਬੀਬੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ ਤਿੰਨ ਕੁ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ। ਬੀਬੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਕੋਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਸ਼ਾਹਿਬਜਾਦਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋਏ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਉ ਕੀ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਾਹਿਬਜਾਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋਏ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਵਾਰਿਸ ਨਹੀ ਦੇਖ ਸਕਦੀ। ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵੀ ੩ ਫੁੱਟ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾਨ ਗਾਤਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਸ਼ਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਚਮਕੋਰ ਦੇ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਗਈ। ਬੀਬੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਸਾਹਿਬਜਾਦਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕਠਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਦਸਤਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠੀਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਹਿਲਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਪਾਠ ਕਰਨ ਤੌ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਅੱਗ ਦਾ ਲਾਂਬੂ ਲਗਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਚਿੱਖਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਤੇ ਮੁਗ਼ਲ ਫੌਜ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਪਈ ਤਾਂ ਮੁਗ਼ਲ ਫੌਜ ਦੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਜਲਦੀ ਨਾਲ ਬੀਬੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਕੋਲ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਤੇ ਪੁਛੱਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਕਿ ਬੀਬੀ ਇਹ ਇੰਨੀ ਅੱਗ ਕਿਉਂ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਬੀਬੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੈ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋਏ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਹਿਬਜਾਦਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹੀ ਸਿਪਾਹਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਬੀਬੀ ਜੀ ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਬੀਬੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਸ਼ਸਤਰ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਪੁੰਨ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਡੱਟ ਕੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਬੀਬੀ ਜੀ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਦੇਰ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ। ਮੁਗ਼ਲ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਬੀਬੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਹੀ ਬਲਦੀ ਚਿੱਖਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੀਬੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਦਾ ਜਾਮ ਪੀ ਲਿਆ।

ਬੀਬੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਟਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਮ।

It was a dark night of 26th Poh 1705 AD. After the battle of Chamkaur, the bodies of the great Sahibzadey(s) and other Sikhs were lying on the plain of Chamkaur, the Mughal army had returned to their respective tents. The order of Wazir Khan was that no one would perform the cremation of the Sikhs.

At a distance of 2 miles from the fort of Chamkaur, there was a village called Raipur Rani, in which Bibi Sharan Kaur Ji, her husband Pritam Singh and her mother-in-law lived. Bibi Sharan Kaur Ji's husband Peetam Singh also  got martyred in the battle of Chamkor (according to historians). Bibi Sharan Kaur Ji had been married for only three months. Bibi Sharan Kaur Ji told her mother-in-law that she wanted to perform the cremation of the Sahibzadey and the martyred Singhs because she could not see the bodies of the Sahibzadey and the martyred Singhs lying unclaimed. Even after her mother-in-law's denial, she reached the Chamkaur field, carrying a 3-foot kirpan in her bag and a hand-lighted torch in one hand. Bibi Sharan Kaur Ji collected the bodies of the Sahibzadey and Singhs, fixed their hair and turbans, and after reciting Sohila Sahib, lit the lamp of fire.

As soon as the Mughal army saw the fire of the pyre, the soldiers of the Mughal army quickly reached Bibi Sharan Kaur and asked her why the fire was so great. Bibi Sharan Kaur said that I have performed the funeral rites of the martyred Singhs and Sahibzadey. On hearing this, the soldiers attacked Bibi Ji. Being skilled in weapons, Bibi Sharan Kaur Ji fought the soldiers fiercely, but being injured, Bibi Ji could not fight for long. The Mughal soldiers picked up Bibi Sharan Kaur Ji and threw her alive into the burning pyre. In this way, Bibi Sharan Kaur Ji got martyrdom.
